Meet your therapist

Hi, I’m Julie Broczkowski (she/her) and I identify as queer, neurodivergent, and middle-aged. I bring an irreverent spinster aunt energy to therapy that people seem to like. What does that mean?

When you were growing up, you might have known someone - an aunt, a neighbour, a family friend - who lived their life a little differently than everyone else. Someone who didn't follow the script. Everyone else thought they were a little weird, but maybe they were the first person you saw who looked like a role model to you. You actually liked talking with them, and they treated you like a person, not just a kid. They represented possibilities.

If you stepped off the socially acceptable track towards adulthood, for whatever reason - like being queer or neurodivergent or polyamorous - role models were hard to find. Now that you're an adult, finding support can still be a challenge. Doing therapy with someone who doesn't "get it" can be frustrating.

I get it. We can figure this out together.

About therapy with Julie

I use various types of modalities, interventions and techniques to personalize your therapy to your needs and way of seeing the world.

My therapy is informed by motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and internal family systems (IFS).

As a therapist, I'm client-centered - which means you're in the driver's seat - and psychodynamic - which means we look back at patterns over your life to understand your current thoughts and emotions, and figure out how those patterns are affecting you now.

My practice is quietly subversive. I'm professional and progressive. I will be supportive and straightforward with you. Our work together will be collaborative, supportive, and impactful.
